Privacy policy

NameRewind is a Chrome extension made by Our Dreamwork (ourdreamwork.com), a digital agency in Mumbai, India, founded by Tejas Salvi. It alerts you when your name is said in a meeting and shows the conversation just before it. This policy explains exactly what happens to your data.

1. Meeting audio stays on your computer

When you press Start, Chrome asks you to share your screen’s sound. NameRewind keeps only the most recent ~100 seconds of that sound in your computer’s memory, constantly overwriting it. The video picture is discarded immediately and never used. A small speech detector runs inside Chrome on your computer and listens only for the names you entered.

2. What leaves your computer — only when your name is heard

When the detector hears one of your names, NameRewind sends that short clip (the seconds before your name, up to 90, plus about 20 seconds after) to our server to be converted into text. Our server forwards the clip to Deepgram, a speech-to-text provider, receives the text back, and returns it to your computer. We ask Deepgram not to use these clips to improve its models.

We do not store your clips or transcripts on our server. The transcript is shown on your computer and kept only in that NameRewind tab until you close it. Full meetings are never recorded, uploaded or stored.

3. Other data

• Your name and email, entered when you start, are stored on our server to manage your account, your free period and early-bird pricing, and to send you important updates about NameRewind. You can ask us to delete them at any time.
• Your names and settings are saved in Chrome on your computer.
• When you type a name in English, it is sent through our server to Google Input Tools to get its Hindi spelling.
• A random install ID is created on your computer to manage your free day and subscription. It is not linked to your identity.
• Payments are handled by Razorpay. We never see your card or bank details. Razorpay shares your subscription status with us, and we use the email and phone number you gave Razorpay only to let you restore your subscription on another computer.
• Our server keeps short technical counters (such as how many clips an install sent today) to run the service and enforce fair use.

4. What we never do

We do not sell your data, show ads, build profiles, or share your data with anyone except the providers named above, who process it only to deliver the service.

5. Your choices

Press Stop at any time to stop listening. Uninstalling the extension deletes everything it stored in Chrome. To cancel a subscription, use the link in your Razorpay email or write to us.
